This Friday’s ATP Paris Quarter Final Predictions and More

The last eight fight it out at the ATP Paris Masters this evening with valuable points up for grabs. We preview the first two quarter finals and look at some interesting betting possibilities:

James Duckworth vs Hubert Hurkacz

Hubert Hurkacz is one step closer to qualifying for the 2021 ATP Finals in Turin. The Pole has outlasted his rivals Jannik Sinner (round 2 exit) and Cameron Norrie (round of 16 exit) this week and needs one more win to confirm his spot in the ATP Finals. The Pole has a 1-1 career record in ATP quarter finals on indoor hard courts, getting the better of Murray in Metz a few months back, but losing to Roberto Bautista-Agut last year in Cologne.

James Duckworth put in solid performances to beat Roberto-Bautista Agut and Lorenzo Musetti in three-setters before successfully warding off a late charge from compatriot Alexi Popyrin to record his best ever result in a Masters 1000 event. The Aussie #2 will look to take this run further and will benefit from starting the match as the underdog.

Hurkacz is deservedly the favourite in this match but it remains to be seen how he performs under pressure. We think a solid performance from Duckworth could make him a smart bet on the game handicap market.

Novak Djokovic vs Taylor Fritz

Novak Djokovic did not have to step on court last time out as his opponent Gael Monfils had to withdraw from the match due to injury. The Serb would have liked more playing time especially considering he has played only one singles match since his straight sets loss to Daniil Medvedev at the US Open. The world #1 has won a record 36 Masters titles, but is yet to win a Masters 1000 event in 2021.

Taylor Fritz has played some tough matches in the past few weeks but seems to be going from strength to strength. He dashed Cameron Norrie’s Turin hopes with an impressive 6-3, 7-6 win yesterday. Fritz, who will reclaim the US #1 tag from John Isner next Monday, will again be looking to put in a strong serving performance to trouble the World #1.

Djokovic is in firm control of the H2H between the pair, leading 4-0. We can’t back Fritz in this one but do believe he is a great bet on the game handicap market.

The pair meet at the ATP Bergamo Challenger in Italy in a quarter final clash. Broady holds a 1-0 H2H record with his straight sets win coming earlier this year. He is by far the more experienced at this level.

Brayden Schnur vs Prajnesh Gunneshwaran

The pair go head to head in the quarter finals of the ATP Challenger in Charlottesville. The Indian Gunneshwaran hold a solid 4-0 H2H record with Schnur, with three of those wins coming in 2021. We expect the trend to continue.
