It’s been a great past few days for tennis fans who’ve got the chance to enjoy some top notch tennis from stars in the men’s and women’s game. As we approach Day 6, the business end of the tournament, we look at some interesting match ups.
Cristian Garin vs Alex De Minaur
With both players in average form, we go deeper into their H2H stats and record on hard courts. Alex De Minaur beat Cristian Garin in their only past meeting in straight sets at the US Open 2019 (hard courts again). WIth an overall better record on hard courts of 109 wins/57 losses for De Minaur vs 42 wins/40 losses for Garin, we’d feel comfortable backing De Minaur at 1.57
Back De Minaur @ 1.57
Monfils vs Anderson
This matchup promises to be a tighter affair than the odds might suggest (1.44-2.75 with Monfils favourite). Anderson has impressed with straight set victories against Jordan Thompson and Lorenzo Sonego. We believe that two tight sets with a high possibility of tie-breaks looms, thus we are comfortable venturing into the above/below games market.
Back over 22.5 games @ 1.80
Albert Ramos vs Basilashvili
The battling Spaniard Ramos seems to be benefitting from the slower Californian court conditions as he storms into his last 16 clash with Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili after beating talented youngsters Felix Auger Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti, both in straight sets. Basilashvili made light work of his relatively lesser opponent Christopher Eubanks but has yet to face a tough challenge at Indian Wells. We’d be comfortable backing Ramos to take a set in this encounter.
Back Ramos to win a set @ 1.50
Jessica Pegula Vs Elina Svitolina
The H2H record is tied at 1-1 but the in-form American should trouble the Ukrainian ace. We think the conditions suit Pegula better and would be confident backing her to win at least a set in the matchup.
Back Pegula to win a set @ 1.40
