IPL Final 2021: CSK vs KKR Predictions

Finals luck favours CSK, but the gods have aligned for KKR at the right time this season

The big day for all IPL fans is here. The Chennai Super Kings face The Knight Riders in Dubai at 7:30 PM IST. The Kolkata Knight Riders will find themselves somewhat fortunate to be playing this year’s final with a dreadful start to the 14th edition of the IPL. Chennai Super Kings on the other hand led by Thala Dhoni was the first team to qualify for the playoffs in inspiring fashion.

CSK have beaten KKR on 17 occasions whilst KKR have beaten Chennai on 9 occasions. Interestingly, in the last five matches, The Super Kings have a 4-1 advantage. At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, CSK lead KKR by 1-0 in the head to head stats.

Probable Line ups

Gaikwad, Du Plessis, Uthappa, Moeen, Rayudu, Jadeja, Dhoni, Thakur, Bravo, Chahar, Hazlewood

Gill, Iyer, Tripathi, Rana, Morgan, Karthik, Shakib, Narine, Ferguson, Mavi, Chakravarthy

With batting the strength of both teams we should see a total of over 300 runs scored comfortably in this match.

Pacers may hold the key

Lockie has made a stellar impact in every game that he has played this season. It will be interesting to see how CSK’s batsman tackle his sizzling pace. On the other hand, CSK’s bowling has stuttered all season with Deeepak Chahar being less than ordinary especially in the powerplay overs.

Will Andre Russell be called up if he is fit?

Another important factor for punters is knowing if Andre Russell is fit to play. He can change a game dynamically and we would be weary if he makes match fitness for the final.

CSK’s opening pair is crucial

Faf Du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been a fantastic pairing at the top of the lineup for Chennai. A huge chunk of CSK’s fortunes depend on the start they give the side as their middle order batting has been less than convincing for some time now.

Our recommendation

Back the chasing side

With chasers having won 9 out of 12 times at The Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the venue is a betting ground to chase a score at. We’d wait for the toss and back the chasing side, irrespective of whether it is CSK or KKR.
