Semi final Saturday is upon us in the ATP Paris Masters with top seed and World #1 Novak Djokovic kicking things off with his match against recent Turin qualifier Hubert Hurkacz followed by Alexander Zverev’s clash with Daniil Medvedev. Team LagateRaho.com take a look at the two semi final clashes:
Novak Djokovic vs Hubert Hurkacz
Novak Djokovic kicked into gear and looked good in his 6-4, 6-3 win against Taylor Fritz last evening. The Serb’s main objective this week is to clinch the year-end World #1 ranking and a win against Hurkacz will guarantee him that. Djokovic has won the Paris title five times and has a perfect 6-0 record in the semis of the event.
Hubert Hurkacz will be relieved to have clinched the final spot in this year’s Nitto ATP Finals in Turin after his hard fought win against James Duckworth. With the pressure off, he may finally manage to play more freely and take the game to Djokovic.
Djokovic leads the H2H 2-0 and rarely cracks under pressure.

Alexander Zverev vs Daniil Medvedev
Last year’s Paris Masters finalists face off this time for a spot in the finals. Alexander Zverev is on a 10 match winning streak on indoor hard courts and has been the best performer on tour in the second half of the 2021 season. His opponent, Daniil Medvedev has made winning a habit, albeit he has won ugly in all his games in this year’s Paris Masters. “It’s normal that the crowd is against me when I play a French player, no problem. But for the next game (semifinal) I hope you can support me,” said Medvedev after knocking out youngster Hugo Gaston.
The German leads the H2H 5-4 and this too will be a game of fine margins. We expect the German to take a set at the very least.
