ATP Antwerp Best Betting Picks

With the ATP Indian Wells Masters 1000 event drawing to a close, team LagateRaho.com looks at other upcoming match ups from ATP Antwerp.

Alexei Popyrin vs Botic Van De Zandschulp

Van De Zandschulp, the top ranked Dutch player, made headlines with a stellar run till the quarter finals at the US Open, losing out to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev. The 26 year old holds an impressive 87/31 win loss record on indoor hard courts but has lost two out of three this season against lower-ranked opponents Gregoire Barrere in Montpellier and Borna Coric in Rotterdam.

Alexei Popyrin will step onto an indoor court for the first time since his title winning Singapore campaign in February 2021, where he looked far from convincing. In the past ten months, he has lost nine of his last 12 draw matches at ATP tour events.

We think Van De Zandschulp’s higher pedigree and affinity for hard courts will get him past the talented Popyrin in this matchup.

Richard Gasquet vs Dusan Lajovic

The Frenchman Gasquet has surprised many by notching up some top-level performances on tour this season, achieving four quarter final or better results this season. The Serbian Lajovic on the other hand has struggled for form since last season with a negative win/loss 14/21 in 2020 and also 16/24 in the current 2021 season.

With Gasquet being the better of the two players, we expect him to get the better of Lajovic in Antwerp. Incidentally, Gasquet was granted a wildcard entry into the event.

Andreas Seppi vs Dennis Novak

With a 1-0 head to head record favouring Novak and a solid record on hard courts, we favour him to take at least a set in this match up.

Brandon Nakashima vs Pierre-Hugues Herbert

With the young American having the better recent run-in, we expect him to trouble the more experienced Frenchman Herbert.
